Dominican Republic · Caribbean
Cabarete has been the center of Caribbean kiteboarding for over two decades. The ENE trade winds blow consistently from December through August, turning this stretch of the Dominican Republic's north coast into one of the most reliable kite destinations on earth.
The town sits between two distinct riding environments: Kite Beach, where ocean swell creates perfect conditions for wave riding and jumping, and the nearby flat-water lagoon at Playa Encuentro, ideal for learning and freestyle. Most days offer both options within minutes of each other.
The international kite community that lives and kites here means gear, instruction, and local knowledge are always close by. Schools line the beach with well-maintained fleets. Equipment is modern. The scene is active year-round, peaking from January through April when the trade winds are strongest and most consistent.
